Nightclub Back Bar Design

Bloom Architects was commissioned to design a striking back bar shelving installation for a high-profile nightclub in Toronto, Ontario. Inspired by the owner's passion for bass-heavy, wall-shaking electronic music, the design concept draws directly from the visual language of sound itself.
About the project
The centerpiece of the concept is a dynamic interpretation of a sound wave, abstracted and mapped across the back bar using a series of irregularly shaped Lucite and metal vertical elements. These sculptural bars are designed to be internally illuminated and programmed to pulse in sync with the DJ’s playlist, creating an immersive and ever-changing visual experience that mirrors the energy of the music.
Strategically integrated within this waveform structure, bottles are suspended on minimalist glass shelves nestled between the illuminated bars, creating a layered display that feels both futuristic and rhythmic. Positioned directly across from the DJ booth, the installation acts as a glowing focal point for the entire space — visually connecting both ends of the room and reinforcing the nightclub’s identity as a place where architecture, sound, and light converge.
