What began as a modest, single-storey bungalow with an inefficient floor plan and limited space was thoughtfully reimagined into a two-storey family home rooted in both function and charm. The homeowner’s vision was clear: create a spacious, multigenerational residence that could comfortably accommodate her growing family, including a self-contained suite for her mother.
About the project
The existing structure was in solid condition, allowing us to build directly atop the original footprint and retain the integrity of the foundation and structural walls. This approach minimized construction waste and respected the home’s original bones while unlocking its full potential.
Architecturally, the home embraces a transitional farmhouse aesthetic. The design features a rich, blue-toned board and batten cladding, natural stone and wood accents, and a generous, covered front porch that anchors the street-facing façade. Integrated soffit lighting adds warmth and character at night, enhancing both curb appeal and functionality. The result is a timeless, character-filled home that marries rural charm with contemporary comfort.
