130 Adelaide Street West is a prominent office building located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown core. Over time, the building’s main lobby had grown outdated, prompting the owners to initiate a comprehensive modernization that would bring new energy and sophistication to the public-facing space.
About the project
WZMH Architects were engaged to lead the transformation — tasked with reimagining the lobby through a contemporary design lens and providing full oversight from concept development through to construction completion.
Key upgrades included the replacement of all ground-floor exterior glazing, allowing for improved transparency, natural light, and a stronger connection between interior and street. Inside, the existing flooring was replaced with large-format tiles to create a sleek, cohesive surface that enhances the sense of scale and luxury within the space. Modern glass canopies were added to the exterior, providing both functional shelter and architectural expression.
One of the most impactful additions was the introduction of a new stair and elevator system, linking the main lobby directly to Toronto’s extensive PATH network — significantly improving connectivity and convenience for building occupants and visitors alike.
The result is a refreshed, high-performance lobby that reflects the evolving needs of today’s commercial tenants while enhancing the building’s presence in Toronto’s financial district.
